
Back in September the Government announced funding for Covid-19 Secure Marshals to help enforce rules on social gatherings. Fraudsters have leapt on this concept and having been knocking on doors, demanding entry, and issuing fake fines. Victims have lost up to a £1,000. In reality Covid Marshals do not have the power to enter homes, enforce social distancing or issue fines. Covid Marshals are there to help engage explain and encourage best practice.

Tips and Advice
- How do I spot a fake Marshal – Marshals are highly unlikely to knock on your door. If they do and ask for entry to your home, close the door and call 999
- Report it! – Use the Police website to report the incident
- Contact – your bank or credit card company if you are worried about having given out financial details
- ID Protection – If you’re worried about identity fraud and would like to protect your identity contact CIFAS
