Google Chrome Scam Alert

There is a new security warning for Google’s 2 billion Chrome users. The vulnerability allows hackers to take control of Windows and macOS systems, however, both Android and iOS are safe. There is no evidence to suggest that fraudsters are using this vulnerability yet, but it has been discovered by clever techies at Chengdu Security and Google have already started rolling out the update to keep devices safe.  Research by Norton suggests that one in 3 adults in the UK in 2017 were victims of such cybercrime, that was 17 million people!

Tips and Advice

  • Check your Chrome for updates – Go to the Help menu and select “About Google Chrome” this will trigger an automatic download of any available update. The update for this problem is called CVE-2019-5869
