HSBC Text Scam Alert

As banks step-up the security for online banking fraudsters are trying to get in on the act and use realistic looking security messages to steal your login details. Below you can see a text message received by one of our members. Its almost identical to the text we all receive when sending a payment to a new payee, but this one has link to a fake HSBC login page which steals their details. According to UK Finance bank transfer scams increased by 40% in 2019.

Tips and Advice

  • If you want to check if YOUR BANK have sent a message – then log in to your account, the normal way, NEVER through a link, and look in the Secure Message Centre within your account
  • Report spam texts – by texting CALL to 7726 and they will respond with some questions for details
  • Personal means private! – Do not divulge personal details unless you are certain who you are communicating with
  • Contact – your bank or credit card company if you have already given out financial details
  • Still Unsure? – Call Reassura 0800 888 6400 and one of our fraud advisors will help you to stay safe
  • To report a fraud – and receive a police crime reference number call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or use their online fraud reporting tool
