Scary Granny Zombye Game Scam Alert

Yes, this is a real threat to Android phone users, based on the very popular “Granny” game of last year, the app appears to be free but upon installation asks for an £18 payment but more sinister is the ad network it connects users to and then steals personal details from the Google account. The phishing attack comes in the form of a notification asking users to update their Google Security, then a fake login page and the rest is identity theft! Normally Google detects such malware in apps before they hit the Play Store but this one has a particularly smart delay which has fooled the system. According to Norton 1 in 3 UK adults will be the victim of a cyber crime like this in 2019.
