YouTube Influencers Scam Alert

YouTube Influencers Scam Alert – Fake Influencer Marketing Fraud

Fraudsters have been setting up fake YouTube channels in the names of influencers /celebrities and sending out messages to catch the unwary. People have been receiving messages appearing to come from influencers saying thanks for commenting on their videos and as a thank you, please click on the link to receive a gift. The scam looks very real as the message has the same picture/avatar as the genuine article but is just a data farming exercise. The survey which you must fill out to collect your prize gets your data and can result in identity theft. Such schemes could, in theory, take you to sites or downloads which could contaminate your device with malware and so you should actively avoid.

IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT ISN’T, INFLUENCERS DO NOT HAND OUT FREE iPhones AND CERTAINLY DO NOT ASK FOR YOUR DATA
